Ingredients
  

  • 1 pound fresh green beans cleaned and trimmed
  • 2 cloves garlic minced

  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

For the sauce:

  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar

Instructions
 

  • Prepare the Green Beans: Begin by cleaning and trimming the green beans, cutting off the ends and removing any strings. Set aside.
  • Make the Sauce: In a small saucepan, combine soy sauce, brown sugar, and rice vinegar. Heat on low to medium heat, stirring frequently until the sugar dissolves and the sauce thickens slightly. Remove from heat.

Cook the Green Beans:

  • Stovetop Method: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the green beans and sauté for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add the garlic, salt, and pepper, and continue cooking for another 2-3 minutes until the beans are tender and slightly caramelized.
  • Oven-Baked Version: Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Toss the green beans with olive oil, salt, and pepper, then place on a baking sheet. Roast for about 15-20 minutes until golden brown and tender, tossing halfway through.
  • Air Fryer Alternative: Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Toss the green beans with olive oil, salt, and pepper, then air fry for 12-15 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through.
  • Toss with Sauce: Once the green beans are cooked, drizzle the sauce over the top and toss well to coat evenly. Let it sit for a minute to allow the sauce to soak into the beans.
  • Serve and Enjoy: Garnish with fresh herbs like parsley or cilantro if desired. Serve immediately as a side dish with your favorite main course.
